Understanding Neurological Development in Children and Young People

Overview

Overview: This webinar considers how a child’s brain develops, and how neurological differences can arise at different stages of development. We’ll explore how genetics, brain development, and experiences interact to shape how a child acts, thinks, learns, communicates, and regulates their emotions. The workshop is delivered in a parent‑friendly, non‑technical way, with no prior knowledge needed.

Workshop content:

  • How children’s brains develop differently over time, and why difficulties may emerge during childhood or adolescence
  • How genetic, neurological and environmental factors interact to influence development
  • Neurological and developmental differences/difficulties linked to early brain development
  • Acquired brain injury and neurological changes following illness or injury
  • Why overlap and co‑occurrence of developmental differences is common
