Overview
Overview: This clinical psychology webinar explores typical child development, including attachment styles, developmental stages, and expected milestones. It covers what should be expected to be seen at different stages and where a child’s presentation might fit with autism. We consider factors that might influence child development, including relationships, trauma (adverse childhood experiences), and broader environmental aspects. Throughout the webinar, we consider how we might begin to notice neurodevelopmental conditions (autism/ADHD).
Content covered:
- Typical childhood developmental milestones (e.g. communication and language, social and emotional development, theory of mind, routines and sensory preferences)
- Attachment theory and styles (including secure, avoidant and ambivalent)
- Differential diagnosis (e.g. attachment mimicking ASD, impact of trauma, cognition and learning, etc.)
